Happy Friday! Any plans for the weekend? I plan to take out my yarn twist (already did), and give my hair a good wash and condition later.
I was recently contacted by Firmoo to review a pair of glasses. Glasses can be worn as an accessory to spice up your look. I decided to choose a printed pair (not sure what the print is called); something different from the black ones I had before.
Sharing my hair journey with you is different for me. I was a bit hesitant, but I'm taking the plunge.
My love for locs started many years ago. I've always admired the look of it, but I was too fearful to give it a try. The first time I attempted locking my hair was two years ago. With the help of my friend, she put my hair in numerous two strand twists (one of the ways to start your locs). A week down the line, out of fear, I took out the twists.
Some of the reasons I took out my twists were:
fear of acceptance from my family, friends... people

Yesterday, January 12, 2015, marked the first day of the last semester of my undergraduate years. Words can even begin to describe the thoughts and emotions that's constantly running through my mind.
A part of me is still shocked at the fact that, I'll be a graduate of Business Management in some months. The other part of me is completely grateful to God, for bringing me this far. Truth be told; without Him I couldn't have come to this point in my life.
Through the good, bad, and ugly, I've experienced God's faithfulness, even when I wanted to give up. To say it's been a long journey is quite an understatement. The journey continues, but I know God is with me every step of the way.
Isaiah 55:8-9- "For my thoughts are not your thoughts neither are my ways your ways", declares the Lord. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."
Hello and Happy New Year! I hope you started out the year on the right foot. It's so crazy to think that we are in 2015. Time just always seem to fly, literally.
To welcome in the new year on my MyStyledExpressions, I'd like to start of with a list of Winter essentials. Over here in Minnesota, we experience frigid temperatures (like today) quite frequently during the winter time. I don't know about you, but being warm (and fashionably) during the colder months is dear to me.
Coat- Oh. My. I love coats. I can't get enough, but I do suppress my cravings, as I'm currently in school, and definitely need to cut my coat (pun intended) according to my size.
Hat- I NEED to get into the hat game. I have hats, but I can use more stylish ones. Hats keep your head warm; which is an important aspect to dressing in the Winter time. Once your head and feet are warm, you can ensure your whole body to warm me too.
Gloves- Bare hands during extremely low temperatures will cause frost bite. No, it's not being fashionable. You can stay warm and stylish during the Winter time. Invest is durable gloves, or mittens, as mittens are known to keep the hands more warm than gloves do.
Boots- you can't have Winter without boots. Tall, ankle boots, lace up boots, boots with heels, leather boots. You name it. I love boots. Love is even an understatement. My roommate can verify. Haha. I have various kinds, and I'm always looking to add more to my collection.
Sweater- along with denim shirt, sweaters can also be dressed up. You don't have to layer sweaters, but you can glam it up with a statement necklace or pair it with faux leather pants, for an edgy look.
Tights- I love wearing dresses and skirts, especially during the colder months. The fact that I feel more feminine is them is an added bonus. Because of my love for skirts and dresses during the colder months, I make sure I have sturdy tights to wear underneath. Going out without it won't only leave you cold, but it's just not cute walking around being cold, while trying to be fashionably. Nah uh.
Crossbody bag- Who wants to walk around in the Winter time, struggling to keep your bag on your shoulder? Definitely not me. I find it easier to run errands with a crossbody bag. I just toss it around my shoulder, adjust the straps, and I'm good to go. No more hassle, and my hands are free to shop around.
Faux-fur scarf- Ahh. These are so warm, and adds instant glam to any outfit. I have a grey pair that I purchased years ago. A simple all black, or neutral outfit can be glammed up with a faux-fur scarf of any color.
Denim shirt- I know it's being around for a while now, but you can never go wrong with layering your sweater or cardigan with your denim shirt. Denim shirt looks chic no matter how it's styled. It's definitely my go-to look, maybe a bit too much. I currently have 4 denim shirts.
Duster cardigan- I adore the duster cardigan. The length, style, patterns are endless. For a simple, laid-back look, throw a duster cardigan over a plain tee, high-waisted jeans, and accessorize with a chunky necklace and crossbody bag. Simple has never been more chic
So, what are your Winter essentials?

Hello, and Happy December! It's my mommy's birthday month, and she'll be turning 50! How can I not be excited?
On Saturday, I attended a 40th birthday celebration of a friend of my mom's friend. Lol. The theme colors were blue and yellow/gold. I already planned to wear this outfit before coming home for Thanksgiving, but when I found out I'd be wearing one of the chosen colors, I was a bit bummed. Haha. I later cheered up though, because the outfit turned out better than I expected. Don't you think?
